Review: Moto G5s Plus

Introduction:

The Moto G5s Plus is an awesome device with excellent capabilities and features. It is the best budget phone one can buy. In close competition with the Android One Xiaomi Mi A1, this phone easily beats it in terms of features it offers. Though the updates on the Mi A1 are much faster having it already received the Oreo update, the Moto G5s Plus is catching up with Motorola promising to give it before Q1 of 2018. We will go through a detailed review:

Body and Design:

The phone has excellent build quality and feels sturdy in hands. All four corners are reachable but may be tough for a small hand. There is a camera hump at the back which makes it vulnerable to scratches when placed on tables. Pro tip: Get a case.

Display:

The Moto G5s Plus packs in a 1920x1080 resolution 5.5 inch IPS LCD display which is very sharp and vibrant.

Internals:

The phone packs in a Snapdragon 625 clocked at 2.02GHz with 3/4 GB RAM and 32/64 GB internal storage. Connectivity terms it has Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz), Bluetooth BLE 4.1, GPS, NFC, Dual 4G SIM with VoLTE support. The processor is a octa-core CPU and the graphics is powered by Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with a 3000mAh battery and Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.

Sensors:

The phone has 30 different sensors for various uses like to activate Moto Display or perform Moto Actions.

Camera: 

The phone features a dual rear camera set-up with both being 13MP out of which one is a Color and other is a Monochromatic sensor for capturing depth in images. I'll be posting camera samples and editing features in another post so stay tuned. There is laser and phase detect auto focus and dual tone LED Flash. The front camera is a 8MP shooter with front LED Flash.

Fingerprint Sensor is available and is very accurate. Overall system performance is very good. Very minor glitches and updates may fix them. Also the camera app is very useful as it can scan and search product barcodes and save contacts form QR codes. Overall I recommend you to buy this device if your budget is around 16,000 INR.
